My training was at Rochester Institute of Technology where I earned my photography degree studying film techniques, sensitometry, lighting and the darkroom process. I used film until the year 2000 at which time I crossed over to the dark side.
I now work with existing light using digital capture. My subject matter has varied over the years and will continue to do so, but the common denominator for my favorite images has been the light.
I'm grateful for my film background because it forced me to accept the limitations that came with it and let me concentrate on the light, especially when working with color due to limited options for post-exposure compensation. If the light is not right, no photographer or painter can do justice with the subject. The most casual observer is aware at some level when the artist attempts to work around this truth.
